hammermuseum_400yearsUCLA Hammer Museum Forum: What Would Reparations Look Like?

This is a free event featuring Harvard University alumnus and professor V.P. Franklin.  Hammer Forum is an ongoing series of timely, thought-provoking events addressing social and political issues.

Tuesday November 12, 2019 @ 7:30PM
Hammer Museum, 10899 Wilshire Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90024

The idea of reparations for black slavery has gained increased traction recently, through prominent pieces in national media, a Congressional hearing, and even in the 2020 presidential campaigns. This panel explores tangible proposals that might also represent, in the words of Ta-Nehisi Coates, a “national reckoning that would lead to spiritual renewal.” UCLA history professor Brenda Stevenson moderates a conversation with history and education professor V.P. Franklin and labor economist and author Julianne Malveaux.
