powersHAE Event: Ethics & AI — How Do Algorithms Know Right from Wrong?

An evening with William Powers ’83, author, MIT research scientist & entrepreneur. Hosted by the Harvard Entrepreneur Association (HAE) of SoCal.

Today, decision-making is increasingly being performed by AI-driven algorithms. William Powers (Harvard College ’83) – author of Hamlet’s Blackberry: A Practical Philosophy for Building a Good Life in the Digital Age, regular contributor to the Washington Post, The Atlantic, and the New York Times, and researcher at MIT Media Lab — has been writing and thinking about the implications of technology on our lives and how to balance the good that comes from innovation against its unintended consequences. Join us as we discuss the tension between ethics and AI and the dichotomy of what is good for business vs. what is simply just good.
