What is the DTLA Maker Faire?
Now in its third year, the DTLA Maker Faire is the first Maker Faire to be held in the Greater Los Angeles area. As the hosting organization, the Los Angeles Public Library invites you to partner with us to help grow the Maker Movement’s impact on our city. Let’s Imagine, Explore and Create together.

What is the Maker Movement?
The Maker Movement is driven by a global community that is fueling a new industrial revolution; harnessing technology and other resources to change how we live, learn and work. Maker Faires around the world serve as platforms for new ideas and products, showcases for makers from a broad range of fields, and hubs for information and dialogue about how the movement is influencing education, manufacturing and more.

Dress: Comfortably and modestly, please wear closed toe shoes and clothing you can get dirty and move easily in.

Ages: 14+

Requirements: As the event approaches, volunteer enrollment forms will be sent and their return will be required in advance of the event.
More Details: This volunteer event will involve a lot of walking, standing, moving, and interacting with the public/staff/makers. If you like a bustling day of helping out, this is for you! Remember to pack snacks/lunch and water! You will be given a break to eat and while there are places downtown to purchase food, we also recommend packing plenty of snacks and water. Although eating is not allowed inside the building, there are ample outdoor spaces to eat outside the library and across the street.

Looking for Sponsors:
This is the first year we are looking for event sponsors. Due to the tremendous growth from year one to year two and the growth we expect to see this year, we need financial support to maintain the high quality of event (and procure things like extra tables, canopies, chairs, etc.). If you know anybody who might be interested in supporting an event for the community and having their company logo alongside that of LAPL, please contact Vivienne Byrd, at (213) 228-7552 or vbyrd@lapl.org.
