Issues in Education - Educators’ Roundtable (Potluck Lunch)

Join fellow Harvard alumni to discuss issues in education, specific and general. Come to a potluck luncheon at the home of Priscilla Heim to voice your opinion and meet others interested in the current state of education.

Saturday, October 19, 2013 @ 12:30pm - 2:30pm
Home of  Priscilla Heim, 500 Levering Ave., Los Angeles CA 90024 (parking up the street)

Warren Spaeth of the Colburn School, formerly of the Crossroads School where he taught music theory and ethics, will join us to discuss the importance of the arts in education.

A recent study by the American Academy of Arts and Sciences on the role of the humanities in education points out that if our nation is to prosper it must create the circumstances likely to produce highly capable people equipped for a rich personal life and able to fulfill their duties as citizens, and that it is education's role to create  such circumstances.

How are our schools preparing these future citizens? Educational programs and solutions abound, but schools continue to struggle and the dialog continues.  The charter-school idea seemed to offer solutions to some of the problems, and now the core curriculum is offered.

Harvard IS education, so come join your fellow alumni in a discussion of these and other programs and solutions at a pot-luck luncheon at the home of Priscilla Heim.
