Dinner and Harvard Professor Speaking Event

The Harvard Club of Southern California welcomes Harry R. Lewis, AB ’68, PhD, ’74, the Gordon McKay Professor of Computer Science, and former Dean of Harvard College, who will be speaking on "The Past and Future of Engineering at Harvard."

Even faculty at Harvard now note that, Harvard engineering has a curious and not entirely proud history. The University long considered the subject ungentlemanly, its goals and requirements at odds with liberal learning. That period is dramatically over now, and the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences is home for some of Harvard’s most exciting research and undergraduate opportunities—which will be carried out, eventually, in new buildings being conceived as the anchor of the Allston campus.
