ABOUT OUR SPEAKERS


Daniela Lamas is a pulmonary and critical care doctor at the Brigham & Women's Hospital in Boston and faculty at Harvard Medical School. Following graduation from Harvard College, she went on to earn her M.D. at Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons, where she also completed an internship and residency. She then returned to Boston for her subspecialty fellowship. Her first book, You Can Stop Humming Now: A Doctor's Stories of Life, Death, and in Between, was published by Little, Brown in 2018. She is on the writing staff of the Twentieth Century Fox medical TV drama The Resident. Daniela has spent the past few months caring for critically ill Covid-19 patients and documenting the work through essays in the New York Times.


Paul E. Sax is Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School, and Clinical Director of the HIV Program and Division of Infectious Diseases at Brigham and Women's Hospital (BWH) in Boston, MA. He is a graduate of Harvard College where he was an English concentrator and received his medical degree from Harvard Medical School. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at BWH while continuing his postdoctoral education with a fellowship in the Infectious Disease Unit of Massachusetts General Hospital. He is Editor-in-Chief of Open Forum Infectious Diseases, an open access journal published by Oxford University Press.
