A family saga masquerading as a crime novel, Harlem Shuffle is set against a backdrop of the 1964 Harlem race riots, looting, gentrification, and corrupt Black capitalists, a story about property and the vexed relationship that African Americans have with it.

Author Colson Whitehead '91 is a two-time Pulitzer Prize winner.


The Crimson Book Club meets quarterly via Zoom to discuss novels written by authors with a Harvard degree.  Book suggestions are welcome!
