2010 Annual Dinner Honorees - Submit Your Nominations!

The club is now soliciting nominations for the “John Harvard Award” and the “Excellence in Education Award” to be presented at our annual dinner, traditionally held in May.

The club is now soliciting nominations for the “John Harvard Award” and the “Excellence in Education Award” to be presented at our annual dinner, traditionally held in May. Criteria established by the board are:

The John Harvard Award for Distinguished Community Service

•    Active in public service
•    Significant, innovative work to improve Southern California society
•    Recognized by a large portion of the membership
•    An outstanding leader in his/her field
•    Has high personal integrity
•    Harvard connection a plus
•    Able to attend the dinner and give a short speech
•    Direct involvement in the field of education
•    Has high personal integrity

Excellence in Education Award
•    Demonstrated excellence and substantial achievement in the field of education
•    Either in primary, secondary, or higher education in Southern California or in a role that effects the education of children or young adults
•    Able to attend the dinner

All recommendations will be submitted to the Board for evaluation and final selection early in 2010. Any suggestions for format, entertainment, and location for the dinner would also be appreciated. Anyone wish- ing to help on the Annual Dinner committee is welcomed. Please submit all recommendations and infor- mation to Daniel Medina. at dan@capknowledge.com.


The John Harvard Award has been given annually by the Club since 1974, and the Excellence in Education Award has been given annually since 1992.

2008: Joseph Thayer, Executive Director of the Colburn School of Performing Arts
2007: Dr. Paul F. Cummins, Executive Director of the New Visions Foundation and the primary founder ofCrossroads School and New Roads School in Santa Monica
2006: Anne Tomlinson, Artistic Director of the Los Angeles Children’s Chorus
