Issues in Education - In the Trenches
Join fellow Harvard alumni for this exciting event. Educator's Roundtables have brought seminal issues in today's education to the attention of the Harvard community and allowed the free-wheeling conversation this community fosters to occur.
Saturday, October 8, 12:30- 2:00 p.m.
The home of Priscilla Heim, 500 Levering Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90024
Although discussion of central factors in education have become a hot topic in the news in general, and new programs and solutions continue to be offered, what actually happens to these solutions may show a different picture. Some succeed and some need to be and are discarded. Meanwhile education, that domain our forefathers deemed the basis for a nation, moves slowly toward what we hope can be an example to the world.
What are your concerns? Harvard IS education, and thus we are educators. We have discussed testing, tracking, racism, child development, the canon, schools of education, the humanities, charter schools. What programs are working? What ones need to change? What actually happens to these in the classroom? Come join your Harvard colleagues in a roundtable discussion of these issues and the subjects that interest you.
