Gather with fellow alumni in Orange County on October 5th to meet and hear from William Fitzsimmons, Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid for Harvard College; Sally Clark Donahue, Director of Financial Aid for Harvard College; and Marlyn McGrath, Director of Admissions for Harvard College, at a luncheon event. This afternoon forum, sponsored by the HAA and the Harvard Club of San Diego, will bring together members of Southern California’s Harvard community to learn about Harvard College’s return to early admission.

William R. Fitzsimmons
Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid for Harvard College
William Fitzsimmons has served as dean of admissions and financial aid for Harvard College since 1986. He received his bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees from Harvard University. He served as executive director of the Harvard College Fund from 1984 to 1986, director of admissions at Harvard and Radcliffe Colleges from 1975 to 1984, and assistant and associate director of admissions from 1972 to 1975. He is a former trustee of the College Board, member of the National Association for College Admission Counseling, and former chair of the Commission on the Use of Standardized Tests in Undergraduate Admissions. He is credited with various research projects, publications, and professional activities on issues related to admissions and financial aid.
Sally Clark Donahue
Director of Financial Aid for Harvard College
Sally Donahue returned to the Harvard College Admissions and Financial Aid Office in 2000 after a 14-year interlude, having worked there for 6 years in the early 1980s. In the interim, she was director of financial aid at the Harvard Kennedy School and later at Harvard Law School (HLS). From 1998 through early 2000, she directed HLS’s Office of Career Services. She graduated from Cornell with an BA in English literature in 1975 and worked there briefly before coming to Harvard.
Marlyn E. McGrath
Director of Admissions for Harvard College
Since receiving her final degree from Harvard in 1978, Marlyn McGrath has served Harvard as a “utility infielder” in a range of administrative roles. Subsequent to positions as Allston Burr Senior Tutor, assistant dean of Harvard College, and assistant dean of academic planning for the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, she has served since 1987 as director of admissions for Harvard College. Her most significant volunteer commitment is to the Winsor School in Boston, where she has served as trustee president (and where she and her two daughters received their most formative educations), Belmont Hill School, and the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary.
