Everyone fails, sometimes in small private ways and sometimes in spectacularly public ways. Similarly, everyone succeeds, by whatever standard each of us might apply. But "success" isn't always what it's cracked up to be, and "failure" can sometimes be an unexpected blessing. So how do we each make sense of our successes and failures, and how can we find the path of most resilience? As part of the Success-Failure Project at Harvard University's
Bureau of Study Counsel, Dr. Abigail Lipson has collected an archive of actual rejection letters received by faculty, alums, deans, and students, along with their reflections about what the letter meant to them at the time and how they have thought about it since. The rejection letters are kind, cruel, or just form letters, but all the recipients are courageous in sharing their stories and their insights. Come join a discussion with Dr. Lipson about rejection, success, failure, redemption, and resilience. Attendees will each receive a copy of the
Reflections on Rejections collection and a nifty "REJECTED" lapel button!
Cost: $15 Members and guests (refreshements will be served), $20 Non-Members and guests.
