The Levitt Pavilion MacArthur Park presents an annual summer series of 50 free music concerts, under the stars, at the historic MacArthur Park band shell. Surrounded by new landscaping, walkways, picnic areas, night lighting, a Children's Meadow directly behind the pavilion with a synthetic playing turf and a colorful new playground, the Pavilion is leading the cultural renaissance of this community treasure. This year marks its sixth concert season. To date, the Levitt Pavilion MacArthur Park has provided the community with 230 outstanding concerts, bringing people from all walks of life together to enjoy a shared evening of great music, beautiful weather, a warm and friendly ambience, and a true feeling of community. In addition to local enthusiasts, the concerts draw fans from downtown LA, Hancock Park, Silverlake and West Adams as well. Designed to appeal to people of all ages, backgrounds and tastes, the summer festival entertains audiences of over 35,000 each year. Levitt pavilions in Pasadena, Arlington, TX, Memphis, TN, Westport, CT, Bethlehem, PA and other cities soon to come, continue to enlarge the range of people reached by the joy of free live music.
Last year’s HCSC event at the Levitt Pavilion MacArthur Park was a sold-out success. So, this year make sure to purchase your tickets early! On August 26, 2012, the Levitt Pavilion MacArthur Park will be presenting the popular Salvadoran group, Friguey, whose danceable music combines rock with Latin rhythms. The Mortimer Levitt Foundation once again this year extends an invitation to members of the Harvard Club of Southern California to come meet Founder Liz Levitt Hirsch at a private gourmet dinner at the landmark La Fonda Restaurant, underwritten by the Levitt Foundation, and stay for the performance among friends.
