The filmmaker traces Lin's life from Palo Alto, California through Harvard and on to his rise with the New York Knicks and now Houston Rockets. The movie also encompasses important themes relevant to Lin such as his Asian American identity. Lin is one of the few Asian Americans in NBA history, and the first American of Chinese or Taiwanese descent to play in the league.
Lin finished his Harvard career as the first player in the history of the Ivy League to record at least 1,450 points (1,483), 450 rebounds (487), 400 assists (406) and 200 steals (225). He graduated with a degree in economics and a 3.1 grade-point average. The movie opens nationwide in early October and is an official selection of the 2013 Sundance Film Festival.
