Chad Cannon is an active composer and orchestrator in the Los Angeles area. He works on a team led by Conrad Pope, having recently contributed to the hit soundtracks of Godzilla and The Hobbit (The Desolation of Smaug and The Battle of the Five Armies), recorded by Mr. Pope and the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra. In 2013, Chad founded the Japan-America Institute for New Music (JAINM), which supports new music relationships between Japan, the U.S., and greater Asia & North America. JAINM's inaugural concert series featured violinist Ryu Goto in concerts in Beijing, Bangkok, New York City, and Hanoi, with upcoming concerts in Singapore, Los Angeles, and Tokyo. Chad also works closely with UN Messenger of Peace and world-class violinist Midori Goto, having led music programs for her non-profit organization, Music Sharing, in Bangladesh, Myanmar, and Japan. Chad holds degrees in music from Juilliard (MM - 2013) and Harvard (AB - 2011) and is married to Sarah Ngo (AB - 2013).
